①Scholarship for Outstanding New Students of ZUST

1. The applicants of Outstanding New Students Scholarship

Applicants should be International students who want to study at ZUST. Applicants should be healthy.

2. The qualification of Outstanding New Students Scholarship

a. Excellent study records (the applicants should provide certificates and transcripts for proof of the highest education finished)

b. The study period of applicants for advanced Chinese language study should be no less than one year

c. An applicant applying for a Chinese language taught bachelor degree program should have an HSK6 certificate or above

d. An applicant applying for an English language taught bachelor degree program should have one of the following certificates: IELTS, TOEFL, GRE or PET. Applicants who don’t have these certificates need to pass the English Level Test organized by ZUST

Note: The winner of Outstanding New Students Scholarship cannot apply for Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship, Scholarship for Outstanding Chinese Language Advanced Student and Scholarship for Diligent Study during the awarding term, but they can apply for other scholarships.

3. Levels and quotas for scholarships

The Outstanding Freshmen Scholarship consists of three levels:

The first level covers 100% percent of the annual tuition fee,

The second level covers 70% of the annual tuition fee

The third level covers 50% of the annual tuition fee.

The number of candidates will be confirmed and announced by the International Eduation Scholarship. The candidates for Outstanding Chinese Language Advanced Students will total 3%, 6%, and 10% of the total number of students in first level, second level and third level scholarship respectively.

4.Application materials

(i) Outstanding New Students Scholarship Application Form of ZUST(must be completed using either Chinese or English)

(ii) Official proof of highest education records. If the applicants are currently enrolled in a university or school, a proof of student status issued by the university/school is needed. Non-Chinese or Non-English materials should be attached to their corresponding Chinese or English version.

(iii) Official transcripts

(iv) Recommendation letter from the school attended by the applicants, written in Chinese or English.

(v) Health certificate (photocopy)

(vi) HSK-6 certificates or above (only for applicants of Chinese language taught bachelor program)

(vii) A test certificate from one of the following tests is required: IELTS 5.5 or above, TOEFL 80 or above, GRE 1400 or above, PET-3 or above. Applicants who don’t have these certificates need to pass the English Level Test organized by ZUST and get the score required for admission (Only for applicants of bachelor degree programs who apply for English as teaching language)

5. Application Procedures and Evaluation

The applicants for Outstanding New Students Scholarship should submit the following application materials to the International Eduation School of ZUST before May 30th or December 10th each year. No late applications will be considered.

The International Education School will evaluate all the applications for the Outstanding New Students Scholarship and announce the candidates publicly. The candidates will be reevaluated at the end of the first term based on their study, attitude and performance. The candidates will not receive the scholarship in the second term if they fail to pass any course, miss 20 teaching periods (including sick leave, private affair leave, and truancy), commit plagiarism or have been imposed a punishment of a warning or above. The applicants who pass the evaluation are eligible to get the scholarship in the second term.

②Scholarship for Outstanding Undergraduate of ZUST

1. The applicants of Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship aims to encourage diligent and hardworking international students pursuing a bachelor degree at ZUST 

2. The qualification of Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship

a. Officially registered self-funded international undergraduates of ZUST who have not applied for suspending schooling, have not lost student status nor have delayed graduation

b. The applicant should have the right attitude towards study, be diligent and have received good marks during the previous academic year

c. The applicant should actively participate in the social service activities and other social activities organized by the university or the international college

d. The applicant should abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the university. The applicant must not have been given any form of punishment above and including a warning.

3. Levels and quotas for scholarships

The Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship consists of three levels:

The first level covers 100% of the annual tuition fee;

The second level covers 70% of the annual tuition fee;

The third level covers 50% of the annual tuition fee.

The number of candidates will be confirmed by the international college according to situation.

4.Application materials:

(i) Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship Application Form of ZUST;

(II)Transcripts from the previous academic year;

(iii) Reference letter from the class adviser and the department.

5. Application Procedures and Evaluation

Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship will be evaluated annually. The applicants for Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship should submit application materials before July 10th to the International Education School. No late applications will be considered.

The International Education School will evaluate all applications for the Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship and announce the candidates before September 10th each year.

③Scholarship for Outstanding Chinese Language Students of ZUST

1. The applicants of Scholarship for Outstanding Chinese Language Students

Chinese language students with good health at ZUST

2. The qualification of the Scholarships

a. The applicant must be an officially registered, self-funded advanced level Chinese language student of ZUST

b. The applicant should have the right attitude towards study, be diligent and get no less than 90 points (including 90) on the final term evaluation. There are three levels of scholarship (first, second, and third) according to the final term evaluation results

c. Total absence from class (including leave for illness, leave for private affairs and truancy) should be not more than 20 teaching periods

d. The applicant should actively participate in social service activities and other social activities organized by the university or the international college

3. Levels and quotas for the scholarship

The Scholarship for Outstanding Advanced Level Chinese Language Students consists of three levels:

The winners of the first, second and third level will receive RMB 1000 yuan, 700 yuan and 500 yuan respectively. The Scholarship for Outstanding Advanced Level Chinese Language Students will total 3%, 7%, and 10% of the total number of students in first level, second level and third level scholarship respectively.

4. Application materials

(i) Scholarship for Outstanding Chinese Language Advanced Student Application Form of ZUST;

(ii) Transcripts from the term;

(iii) Reference letter from the class advisor.

5. Application Procedures and Evaluation

Scholarship for Outstanding Chinese Language Advanced Student will be evaluated every term. The applicants should submit the following application materials to the International Eduation School before June 30th or January 10th. No delay in application will be considered.

The International Education School will evaluate all the applications for Scholarship for Outstanding Chinese Language Advanced Student and announce the candidates at the end of every term.

④The HSK Winner Scholarship of ZUST

1.The applicants of HSK Winner Scholarship

The applicants of HSK Winner Scholarship are foreign students in our university who possess one of the following certificates: HSK-4, HSK-5, HSK-6, HSK-7, HSK-8, HSK-9, HSK-10, HSK-11

2.HSK Winner Scholarship qualification

This scholarship rewards HSK-4 and above winners who attend the test during their study period at ZUST. The qualifications are as the follows:

a. All registered international students of ZUST, including undergraduates, senior advanced students, general advanced students, advanced language students, and scholars are eligible to apply

b. The applicant should possess one of the following certificates: HSK-4, HSK-5, HSK-6, HSK-7, HSK-8, HSK-9, HSK-10, HSK-11;

3. Levels and quotas for scholarships

The applicant for HSK Winner Scholarship should hold one of the following certificates: HSK-4, HSK-5, HSK-6, HSK-7, HSK-8, HSK-9, HSK-10, HSK-11.The winners will receive from RMB 200 yuan to 900 yuan respectively.

5.Application Procedures and Evaluation 

        

HSK Winner Scholarship will be evaluated at the beginning of every term. The applicants should submit the following materials to the International Education School before March 5th or September 10th. No late applications will be considered. The International Education School will evaluate all applications and announce the candidates promptly.

⑤The Specialized Scholarships of ZUST

1.The applicants of the Specialized Scholarships

The Specialized Scholarshipsaim to reward students with outstanding achievements in the areas of academics, sports, arts, cultural exchange and social activities. 

2.Types of the Specialized Scholarships

There are also a variety of specialized scholarships, such as the Scholarship for Diligent Study, Scholarship for Social Service, Scholarship for Arts and Sports Activities Excellence, Scholarship for Arts and Sports Activities Participation, and Scholarship for Potential Talent.

3.The qualification of the Specialized Scholarships

a. Scholarship for Diligent Study: the applicant should be an officially registered, self-funded Chinese language student of ZUST, be diligent in their studies and achieve good scores for all courses taken (final score for each course should be above 85 points). Total absence from class (including sick leave, private affairs leave and truancy) should be no more than 30 teaching periods. The winner of the Scholarship for Outstanding Chinese Language cannot apply for the Advanced Scholarship for Diligent Study during the same term.

b. Scholarship for Social Service: the applicant should have good character and be actively involved in social services. The applicant should hold a key post in students associations, have outstanding performance in social service and creating harmonious campus and be recognized by the university.

c. Scholarship for Arts and Sports Activities Excellence: the applicant is required to have won prizes in arts and sports contests at national, provincial, or university level.

d. Scholarship for Arts and Sports Activities Participation: the applicant should actively participate in arts and sports contests at the national, provincial, or university level.

e. Scholarship for Potential Talent: applicants should have improved by more than 25 points (including 25 points) in their final term evaluation compared with the previous term, or have made outstanding performance in a given field.

4.Levels and quotas for scholarships

a. Scholarship for Diligent Study: RMB300 yuan, covering 10% of the total students.

b. Scholarship for Social Service: RMB300 yuan, with no limit on the number of candidates.

c. Scholarship for Arts and Sports Activities Excellence: national level RMB 2000 yuan, provincial level RMB 1500 yuan, intramural level 500 yuan with no limit on the number of candidates.

d. Scholarship for Arts and Sports Activities Participation: national level RMB 1000-2000 yuan, provincial level 300-600 yuan, intramural level 100-300 yuan ; with no limit on the number of candidates.

e. Scholarship for Potential Talent: RMB 300 yuan, with no limit on the number of candidates.

5.Application materials

(i)Specialized Scholarship Application Form for International Students of ZUST

(ii) Proof of the applicants’ outstanding performance in study, arts and sports activities or social services in the recent term.

6.Application Procedures and Evaluation

The Specialized Scholarship will be evaluated every term. The applicants should submit the following application materials before June 30th or January10th. No late applications will be considered.

The International Education School will evaluate all applications and announce the candidates at the end of every term.
