SMU Undertook CSC’s Activities “Perception of China"

On September 24, “Perception of China”—Activities Themed on Chinese Shipping History, Culture, Mission and Technology hosted by CSC (China Scholarship Council), undertook by SMU, SU (Shanghai University), and SOU (Shanghai Ocean University) was held in Shanghai Lingang. The event attracted a lot of attendance including Ms. Li Tingting, Head of Study in China at CSC, Ms. Ge Jingyi, from International Affair Office of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, relevant Heads of SMU International Education College, and nearly 100 overseas students from 55 countries who achieved Chinese Government Scholarship. The activities aimed at helping overseas students deeply perceive Chinese shipping history, culture, mission, and technical development so that have a better understanding of Chinese culture ,society and economy.

 

In the Cosco Lecture Hall, Prof. Ruan Wei, Dean of International Education College, Prof. Luo Ruilong from SOU gave a lecture to overseas students. Prof. Ruan Wei explained the profound in simple terms concerning the basic conception of shipping industry, operating mechanism, developing prospect, building of Shanghai international shipping service center, etc. Prof. Luo Ruilong gave a professional analysis on deep research, study, and our first 5000t expedition ship “Zhang Jian”, and the first machine “Rainbow Fish” for scientific exploitation in deep ocean.

“Perception of China”—Activities Themed on Chinese Shipping History, Culture, Mission and Technology is one of the series society experiencing activities host by China Scholarship Council.

 

After the event, overseas students all benefited a lot from it, and expressed their admiration and appreciation of Chinese Shipping Culture.
